In their last homegame in the 2025 season, and possibly the last of the season, the Vikings take on AIK. The Vikings are still in the playoff picture, with a win against AIK being the first obstacle to overcome to make it to the post season. For AIK this is also a must win game, with a win putting them at 4-4 on the season and a chance at the playoffs.
The Vikings offense finally showed some life against the Predators! After four straight weeks of playing against the top two defenses in the league, the Vikings offense were able to put together a solid performance, putting up 42 points and 374 yards of offense against the Predators. AIK fields a similarly ranked defense, so the Vikings should be able to put up some points again this game.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Vikings were very successful running the ball against the Predators, so don’t be surprised to the see an offense going back to the well against AIK. A strong rungame can also soften up a defense throughout the game, and give receivers better working conditions. It will be interesting to see what Sam Gooding has cooked up in the regular season finale.
The Vikings only allowed 26 points and kept the Predators relatively in check in their last game. While there was quite a bit of yards surrendered, the Vikings got off the field on third downs. The Predators were only able to convert 3 of 9 third down attempts against one of the better offenses in the league.
AIK’s offense have not been as statistically good as other teams the Vikings have faced, but they do have a very good QB-WR combo in Max Lambert and Joshua Hicks. The Vikings secondary will have to play well again this week to give the team a chance. All in all, this game should be a fairly even game with a lot on the line for both teams.
Tight End Kristoffer Solli Steffensen played a solid game against the Predators, and there is no reason to believe he won’t build on that performance. Leading the team in catches and yards, Steffensen found himself wide open on several occasions last game. In the Vikings offense, the Tight End is often at the point of attack, either setting key blocks or acting as one of the options in the RPO-game. In other words, if the Vikings keep running the ball, Steffensen will be in the mix on most plays as a blocker or receiving threat. This kid also has some speed on him, so don’t be surprised to see a splash play either.
It would be weird not to mention the man that just rushed for 115 yards on 13 carries with 2 TD’s all while hurdling over defenders. Will Sewell had himself a great game against the Predators, and will be vital again this game against AIK. Playing both ways and delivering a high level performance has become the standard for Sewell. Any time #1 is on the field spectators should pay attention.
A player that has resurfaced for the Vikings after a couple of years living in Copenhagen is defensive back Eivind Rølles. Rølles is good in coverage and plays with a lot of physicality. That physicality is nice to have to disrupt arguably the best receiver in the Superseries in Joshua Hicks. Rølles earned the nickname Air Rølles during his years with the Vikings due to his sticky coverage, lets see if he can live up that moniker against AIK.
It will be a long time until the Vikings take the field at Frogner again after this coming Saturday so make sure to come out to show support and cheer on the Vikings in their last homegame of the season. The weather forecast for Saturday may be just okay, but this game has some enticing playoff implications between two teams that should be fairly evenly matched.
